Recipe - Pork meat pie
INGREDIENTS
- 1 1/2 lb (608 g) lean pork
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup (60 mL) celery, finely chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic, chopped
- 1 tsp. (5 ml) salt
- 1 tsp.(5 ml) savory
- Pepper to taste
- 1/4 c.to tea (1.25 ml) allspice
- 1 bay leaf
- 1/2 cup (125 mL) of water
- 1 small potato, boiled and mashed
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 tsp (15 ml) of milk
- 2 pie crusts (9 '')
PREPARATION
- Cook your meat in a large cauldron. Add onion, celery, garlic and cook until onions are tender.
- Add salt, savory, pepper, chilli, and water. Cover and simmer for 15 minutes. Remove the lid and simmer for another 5 minutes until the water is gone.
- Add the mashed potato.
- Put a drop on a pie plate, pour in the meat mixture and cover with a second dough. Brush your dough with egg and milk.
- Bake at 425°F for 30-40 minutes until golden brown.
