Recipe: Bacon and Cheddar Bread.
INGREDIENTS
- 3 cups warm water
- 2 tbsp. instant yeast
- 2 tbsp. salt
- 2 tbsp. sugar
- 1 pack of bacon, cooked and diced
- 2 cups of cheddar cheese, grated and separated
- 6 cups flour
- 1/8 c. ground black pepper
PREPARATION:
- In a large bowl, combine water, yeast and sugar.
- Whisk and let stand 5-7 minutes in a warm place (oven off with light on).
- Stir in 1 cup cheddar and all other ingredients (keep a few pieces of bacon for sprinkling the top later) in the bowl containing the yeast and blend until fully incorporated. The dough will be very sticky.
- Cover the dough with a clean dish towel and moisten and place in the oven off with the light on about 1h30.
- Place the dough on a floured surface and knead for a few minutes.
- Cut the dough in half, put in two rectangular bread pans, then sprinkle the top with the remaining cheddar cup and reserved bacon bits earlier.
- Cover the dough with the laundry again and place it in a warm place for 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 400 ° F and bake bread for 15 minutes.
- After 15 minutes, place a sheet of aluminum foil on the buns, lower the temperature to 350 ° F and bake for 35 minutes.
- After 35 minutes, remove the sheet of aluminum foil and continue cooking for 10 minutes.
